Before you implement your headcount reductions.....

 

Headcount ReductionWe have been called in on an emergency basis several times over the last twelve months by Local Authorities that have agreed headcount reductions before assessing their impact at the service level.  Involving consultants as a distress purchase goes against all best practice principles and costs money!

A rapid, swift pre-view is far better than a post-event fix. 

We suggest that you review the processes involved in the service under preview and to baseline the costs…yes, even if it is Social Services or HR, both of which we have been involved in after the redundancies were announced.

The scary story is that in one case, 7,000 staff and teachers were about to miss their monthly salary payments.  In another case, Looked After Children were not going to receive their annual statutory review conference.  The costs and heartache incurred to fix these problems after the event was far higher than a careful but quick assessment and redesign before the redundancies would have been.
